0

1. Create the Office 365 click-to-run package for local deployment.

  1. Download the Office Deployment Tool http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=36778 and extract this download to a folder.
  2. Edit from the extracted folder the configuration.xml file
  3. configuration.xml syntax can be found at https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219426(v=office.15).

    <Configuration>
    <Add SourcePath=”D:\Office\O365ClickToRun\Download” OfficeClientEdition=”32″ >
    <Product ID=”O365ProPlusRetail”>
    <Language ID=”en-us” />
    </Product>
    </Add>
    <!– <Updates Enabled=”TRUE” UpdatePath=”\\Server\Share\Office\” /> –>
    <Display Level=”None” AcceptEULA=”TRUE” />
    <Logging Name=”OfficeSetup.txt” Path=”%temp%” />
    <Property Name=”AUTOACTIVATE” Value=”1″ />
    </Configuration>

  4. Run from an elevated CMD prompt :
    1. setup /download configuration.xml
    2. This wil download all of the click-to-run components to the specified folder.
  5. When the download is finished there will be a number of cabinet files in the folder
  6. It’s easy to create an App-V 5 package which can be deployed using System Center Configuration Manager 2012
    To create thsi App-V package run the following command :

    1. setup /packager configuration.xml s:\office\O365clicktorun\Appv5
  7. Now the App-V 5 package will be created in the specified folder.
    This package can be used by your SCCM server

  8. If you want to keep the package updated automatically
    change in the configuration.xml  XML the line <Updates Enabled=”TRUE” UpdatePath=”\\Server\Share\Office\” />

    The other option is to configure this by Group Policy.

Office 365 Appv error “The software change returned error code 0x87D0128F .”

Office 365 Appv error “The software change returned error code 0x87D0128F (-2016406897).”

The 1st issue was that Powershell 3 didn’t execute PS scripts.

I fixed it with running PS :

“Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted”

After this was fixed I received some “embedded scripting not allowed” error

Add-AppvClientPackage : Operation failed. An embedded script is defined for this operation in this package and

rollback on error is set to true in script definition, but this script cannot not be run because embedded scripting is

disabled for this client. Please either enable embedded scripting for this client (to run the script), or modify the

script defintion for this package to set rollback on error to false (in which case the script will be still disabled

and ignored).

Operation attempted: Configure AppV Package

After some research it turns out that there is a reg value that can be changed.

 reg value : EnablePackageScripts

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\AppV\Client\Scripting

This is default set to 0

I’changed to 1

Now I can isntall the Appv Office 365 pro plus package.

Modern Apps Not Working After Upgrading Windows 10 preview – reregister Apps

0

After the latest update of Windows 10 preview all the “Modern Apps “where not working anymore.

You can re-register all apps bij entereing the following command in an Admin Powershell prompt
Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

If still not working you can try this procedure :

  1. Run regedit
  2. Check if system is the owner of the key  : (right click over the key Packages and select Permissions. Now in the following window, click Advanced)
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\AppModel\Repository\Packages
  3. run Powershell with admin rights and enter this code :
    Powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml
  4. If  none of the Modern apps are working , then paste this also in the open PowerShell box:
    ((Get-ChildItem “HKLM:SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx\AppxAllUserStore\InboxApplications”) | Get-ItemProperty).Path | Add-AppxPackage -Register -DisableDevelopmentMode
  5. If you also encounter issues with apps from 3rd party suppliers a registry key needs to be deleted :
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Appx\AppxAllUserStore\[UserSID]If you don’t know your user ID fou can find this by entering the following command “executing wmic useraccount get name,sid” in the command prompt.
  6. Restart your system and all the apps should be working fine.
